At Wild Heart Connection, our fun and interactive youth programs are specifically designed to maximise the learning and retention of necessary life skills. With horses acting as the "teachers" – not humans – it makes for a unique, unforgettable experience. By utilising a hands-on approach through our educational BuildingBlock™ Curriculum, we facilitate teachable moments with a lasting impact. Whether it be building relationships, working on teamwork and communication skills, learning to trust, making choices, or becoming a leader, our horses will provide the youth with an experience that they can draw from in their everyday lives. By doing this, we can help our youth to develop skills for life.

Our programs offer more than just a fun day out of the classroom. They are a powerful journey of teaching, learning and understanding. We offer a range of programs that can be tailored in content, structure and duration to meet the specific development needs of children and young adults. There is no riding involved – we work with the horses from the ground. These programs are ideal for youth who are dealing with behavioural issues, suffering from low self-esteem, combating drug abuse, lack communication skills, need to develop leadership skills or the ability to work with others. As well as, youth who are focusing on developing a range of core leadership and life skills, youth and young adults transitioning from school to school, or from school to the real world, youth who are the bullied and who are the bully, and young people who struggle with anxiety, depression and who feel like everything in life is getting too much. The benefits are endless when participating in our experiential skills development program. We look forward to working with you in building life skills for our youth!

I had fun and I haven’t had fun in a while. I can’t wait to come back.

We need more creative ways to teach youth. This program does just that! My students will hold this creative and positive learning experience in their memories forever. Thanks again!

My horse just wants to be loved. Dealing with him makes me forget about all the bad things. He makes me smile and happy.

Horses are ideal teachers for use with children. Once a child is taught the basics of working

properly with a horse, he or she can become the leader the horse seeks. When the horse feels safe, cooperation is a hundredfold and the child can easily get the horse to do what is asked of it. Bringing that piece back to their lives as everything is a parallel to how to work with people and themselves in their own lives.

  • Horses can’t lie or overthink

  • Horses feedback is honest and instant

  • Horses help to instil empathy and kindness in participants

  • Horses have natural “herd behaviours” that require trust, respect and teamwork from all the members of the team.

Searching for alternatives to traditional education? Emphasising self-responsibility, participative education attempts to involve the student in experiences relevant to his future and to provide him with the opportunity and methodology for learning from these experiences. Students are encouraged to develop self-reliance, self-confidence, and increased self-esteem, and leave better equipped for lifelong, continued learning.

Children and young people who have the chance to work with us in our youth skills development programs are able to learn how to modify their behaviour through sets of objectively-driven exercises that will remain with them for the rest of their lives. This type of teaching cannot be delivered in a classroom. It is the experience of being in close contact with horses that have the most effect on young people.

Lets help our young people to build an armour of skills so they know how to protect themselves and move forward with all that life throws at them and have self-awareness about their own behaviour through the powerful teacher, the horse.

A little girl from one of our 12-week school program stands up on her last day to choose and explain her word from the achievement board. This little girl has FAS, has been bullied or ignored by her peers and when she started the program was afraid to speak up or express herself. On their last day, she picks 8 words, instead of one and explained each word and why she picked it. As if that wasn’t amazing enough, her peers, who once bullied and ignored her, began to clap at her accomplishment. What an amazing moment!

This Skills Development Program designed for schools, is for all children and young adults, 8-years and older, focusing on developing a range of core leadership and life skills.

Our 8-12 week interactive school programs are specifically designed to ensure the learning and retention of necessary life skills to aid in each youths personal growth. This specific life skills BuildingBlock™ Curriculum Series is a great alternative to traditional education. One of the many bonuses of working with horses vs a classroom setting is the component of interactivity because we all learn differently, but we can all take away lessons that we learn through our experiences.

Each of our objectively driven exercises is custom designed to maximise learning potential and focus on developing individual skills as youth work through fun interactive group challenges, in an experiential environment. Teams will work to; develop self-reliance, accept responsibility and accountability, overcome barriers to find change, be encouraged to be creative and innovative, find opportunity in working together, realize the benefits associated with effective communication, recognize the value of mutual trust, respect, and personal integrity… All while having a blast!

This specific Life Skills Transition Program is a great alternative to traditional education. Each of our objectively driven exercises is custom designed to maximise learning potential and focus on developing individual skills as youth work through fun interactive group challenges, in an experiential environment.

Emphasizing self-responsibility, participative education involves the students in experiences relevant to his or her future and provide the students with the opportunity and methodology of learning from these experiences, especially for primary school students preparing to move to secondary school and young adults transitioning from school to further studies or the work place. Students develop self-reliance, self-confidence, and increased self-esteem, leaving better equipped for their lives at school and home, and for lifelong, continued learning.

Our Youth At Risk Program is designed for young people facing challenges in their lives and students identified as 'at risk of disengagement'. This program is ideal for troubled, at-risk youth, or youth that exhibit aggressive behaviour, by promoting self-esteem, integrity, leadership, accountability and teamwork. Instilling empathy and kindness; overcoming barriers to find change; developing relationships; finding opportunity in working together; realizing the benefits associated with the effective communication; and recognizing the value of mutual trust, respect, and personal integrity.

The youth that teachers, counsellors, and the principal feel display behavioural issues, or who are withdrawn, will benefit most from the program. The more we involve learners, the more senses are engaged, thereby increasing the probability that they will learn, retain, and apply what they have learned back to real life.

The best way to help children not become victims of bullies is by teaching them bully proofing skills. Victims of bullies usually exhibit poor communication skills and tend to be left out of activities, leaving them isolated. A child with bullying issues may be just as much a victim in his own life as the child he directs his aggression towards. Our equine Anti Bullying Programs are ideal for both the bully, and the bullied, as these programs encourage the growth of social skills, communication skills, emotional, physical, mental and spiritual wellness, self-esteem, positive leadership skills, choice-making skills, and responsibility, creativity, and laughter.

Designed to teach communication, assertiveness, teamwork and inclusion in a neutral, non-threatening environment.

Our Anxiety & Trauma Support Programs are ideal for young people who've ever experienced self-doubt, low confidence, anxiety or depression, or felt like everything in life is getting too much. Not only will the students learn self-esteem and leadership but they will also have a group of supportive teammates where there is no judgement, only encouragement from their teachers, the horses, to continue to grow and build valuable life skills, to assist in moving forward in life.

We don’t promise that we will fix everything, or give all of the answers to life’s troubling questions and hardships, as we both know that doesn't work. Real change doesn't happen when others give the answers. Real, sustainable change comes when the answers are discovered within. This Anxiety & Trauma Support Program gives guidance, with the help of the “teacher,” to allow finding one’s own self-truths and promote mental wellness.

Our teachers are four-legged ones who greet without judgement, without concern for past history, and without preconceived ideas. They guide young people throughout this program to self-knowledge and calmness and strength that will change their lives permanently.
